About WRTC  : Water, Research and Training Centre (WRTC) is a non governmental, non profit educational foundation working for the Myanmar peoples by promoting and improving their access to research and training opportunities and education in the water and rural sector in Myanmar and abroad.

Founded in June 1997, registered under the Netherlands Law on 8 Sept. 1997. It also is a member of the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK No.41160487). The WRTC is 150 members strong and the nineteen person board of governors advises and directs the WRTC’s research, training, consultancy, advocacy, networking and information dissemination services.

Long Term Goal

• To provide a better quality of life through progressive education for Myanmar peoples.
• To be a key mechanism for human capacity builders, universities, institutes, research centres and vocational training programmes in the education sector of Myanmar.
• To provide the appropriate knowledge, know-how and practice in order to empower the local population, especially to the rural population, as genuine stakeholders in the natural resources of Myanmar.
• To introduce a culture in exercising democratic principles in daily water utilisation and management practices.
• To protect Myanmar watersheds and their environment not only by law but also by participation of the population through the vision and the culture.
• To provide the well preserved environment and knowledge for the next generations.
• To take part actively in the global networking of water related research and knowledge capacity building process.

Objectives:

• To Initiate socio-technical process of human and institutional capacity building directed to and equitable and sustainable management of water resources and water environment in the best interest of the Myanmar peoples.
• To promote a sense of community in all walks of life, in which a shared use of water provides a unifying force.
• To pursue various scholarship programs for the Myanmar peoples directed to an education which provides freedom of thought, creativity, competence, and an access to effective and efficient participation in the reconstruction of Myanmar.

Activities:

We do human and institutional capacity building, advocacy for the water awareness campaign and sustainable development. Networking worldwide, creating learning communities and communities of practice aim at a desirable and foreseeable social change. We provide Myanmar orientated research, free consultation for Myanmar students and most important low level mediation through Myanmar professionals to achieve peace in Myanmar.

• Make frequent visit to monastic schools and provide nutritious foods, stationeries and clothings to the vulnerable children
