As a member of Food Security
Working Group (FSWG), Shalom
Foundation (SF) is implementing
Reforestation Project in Kachin
State with strong emphasis on
community forestry and natural
resource management. Through
said project, suitable
agroforestry practices have been
carried out by the local
communities in order to improve
effective land use and income of
individual household. In the
process, members of the project
will be equipped with necessary
skills to prevent soil
degradation by establishing
mixed species (native)
plantation and develop the
quality of soil by planting
nitrogen fixing species.
As of now, community forest has
been established in six villages
in Kachin State.
